Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Home / Treatments / Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Ambulatory phlebectomy is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure used to remove medium to large varicose veins located close to the surface of the skin. The procedure improves both symptoms and appearance by physically removing affected veins.

It is often performed as a standalone treatment or in combination with other vein procedures.

How Ambulatory Phlebectomy Works

Small incisions are made along the course of the affected vein. A specialized surgical instrument is then used to remove the vein in segments through these tiny openings.

Because the incisions are very small, stitches are typically not required, and scarring is minimal.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Recovery and Aftercare

Most patients are able to walk immediately following the procedure and return to normal activities within a short period.

Compression stockings are typically worn for one week or longer to support healing and optimize results.

Importance of Treating Underlying Venous Disease

Addressing the underlying cause of varicose veins, such as venous reflux, helps prevent recurrence and ensures durable results.
