Home / Conditions / Chronic Venous Disease
Chronic venous disease is a long-term condition that occurs when veins in the legs are unable to effectively return blood to the heart. This is most often due to malfunctioning vein valves, a process known as venous reflux.
Over time, increased pressure within the veins can lead to visible vein changes, discomfort, skin damage, and in advanced cases, ulceration.
Treatment is guided by disease stage, symptoms, and underlying vein function.
Early diagnosis and treatment of chronic venous disease can slow progression, reduce complications, and improve long-term outcomes.
An evaluation can help determine the severity of venous disease and identify appropriate treatment options.
